Karsten Fruit Packers

Southern Africa

Overview

A subsidiary of The Karsten Group, Karsten Fruit Packers specialises in fruit packing and cold storage. KFP packs pears, apples, and grapes from January to September, handling around 35 000 bulk bins of fruit every year. Located in the Western Cape, South Africa, the facility maintains the highest standards in fruit packing and cooling, and has acquired GFSI recognised certifications. An uninterrupted supply of energy is essential to maintaining quality standards and productivity.
New Southern Energy produced a single axis tracker system, with generator integration for this site. The system features JA Solar High Efficiency Poly Modules and Sungrow SG110CX string inverters with MPPT trackers that are equally split in power input capacity. The modules rotate during the day, following the sun, for maximum output and move into a stowed position (almost horizontal to ground) at night.
